1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using PurimInShushan.com (the “Site”), including the browser-based game “The Prince of Shushan” and all related features, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Site.

2. Description of Service

PurimInShushan.com is a cultural and educational project that tells the story of Purim through:

• A free browser-based pixel-art game (“The Prince of Shushan”)
• Educational and cultural content about the Megillah and Persian heritage
• A Pixel Portrait feature that transforms uploaded photos into pixel art
• A Postcard from Shushan feature for creating shareable postcards
• A newsletter (“The Scroll”)

All features of the Site are provided free of charge. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or paid content.

3. User Content

When you upload a photo for the Pixel Portrait or Postcard features, you grant us a limited, temporary license to process that image solely for the purpose of generating your pixel-art portrait or postcard. Your uploaded photos are:

• Processed server-side during a single request and not stored permanently
• Not shared with third parties except as necessary for processing (e.g., the AI portrait generation service)
• Not used for training, marketing, or any purpose beyond generating your result

You represent that you have the right to upload any photo you submit and that it does not violate any third party's rights.

4. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site — including but not limited to game code, pixel art, character designs, written content, audio, and visual designs — is the property of PurimInShushan.com or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may share screenshots, decree cards, postcards, and other outputs generated through the Site for personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Site's source material for commercial purposes without prior written permission.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
• Upload content that is obscene, offensive, or infringes on others' rights
• Attempt to interfere with, compromise, or disrupt the Site or its servers
• Scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract data from the Site in an automated manner beyond normal browsing
• Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with PurimInShushan.com

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site and all its features are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Game progress stored in localStorage may be lost if you clear your browser data.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PurimInShushan.com and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Site, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of game progress, or inability to access the Site.

8. Educational and Cultural Content

The content on this Site is provided for educational and cultural purposes. While we strive for accuracy in our retelling of the Megillah and representation of Persian heritage, the game and related content are creative interpretations and should not be taken as authoritative historical or religious scholarship.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

The Site may contain links to third-party websites or services (such as VisitShushan.com). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party sites. Visiting those sites is at your own discretion and risk.
